For most field crop work a 16 litre battery sprayer is the right size. Choose an 18 or 20 litre model only when the refill water is a long walk from where you spray, because every extra litre in the tank rides on the operator's back for the whole round. Our four JP Kissan JPK-KF models differ in tank size and listed working pressure, so those are the two lines to compare.

How do the four JPK-KF battery sprayers compare?

ModelTankWorking pressureSame in barListed size
JPK-KF-16B-M/N16 L0.2 to 0.3 MPa2 to 3 bar38 x 18.5 x 51.5 cm
JPK-KF-16C-2916 L0.15 to 0.4 MPa1.5 to 4 bar40 x 20 x 53 cm
JPK-KF-18C-218 L0.15 to 0.4 MPa1.5 to 4 bar42 x 22 x 54 cm
JPK-KF-20C-720 L0.15 to 0.4 MPa1.5 to 4 bar42 x 22 x 54 cm

All figures are from the model pages. The 18 and 20 litre pages print the same size figure, so ask us to confirm the dimensions of the unit you order.

Why does tank size matter more than people expect?

Spray mix is mostly water, and a litre of water weighs about a kilogram. Going from a 16 litre tank to a 20 litre tank therefore adds roughly 4 kg of liquid on the back, before you count the sprayer and its battery. As our comparison of power, knapsack and battery sprayers points out, a full 16 litre knapsack already weighs around twenty kilos.

That load is carried at walking pace, row after row. An operator who is tired by mid morning walks faster, sweeps the lance unevenly and leaves gaps. A smaller tank means more refills, but each round is sprayed at the same steady pace. On many farms that covers more ground properly by the end of the day.

When is a 16 litre battery sprayer the right choice?

Pick a 16 litre unit when:

  • water for mixing is close to the plot, at a tubewell, tank or channel;
  • one person does most of the spraying through the day;
  • the work is a small plot, a nursery, a polyhouse or a kitchen garden;
  • the crop is low enough to cover without a long throw.

There are two 16 litre options. The JPK-KF-16B-M/N lists 0.2 to 0.3 MPa, the band we suggest for most field crop work. The JPK-KF-16C-29 lists a wider 0.15 to 0.4 MPa working range in the same tank size. If you are deciding between the two, tell us your crop and the nozzle you use and we will say which suits it.

When should you move up to 18 or 20 litres?

Move up when refills cost more time than the extra weight costs effort. That usually means the water source is far from the field, or the mix has to be carried out to the plot.

  1. Time one refill trip on your own farm, from the last row to the water and back.
  2. If the trip is short, stay with 16 litres. A bigger tank will not save much.
  3. If the trip is long, the JPK-KF-18C-2 adds two litres per round and the JPK-KF-20C-7 adds four.
  4. Check who will carry it. The person who buys the sprayer is often not the person who wears it.

Both larger models list the same 0.15 to 0.4 MPa working range as the 16C-29, so moving up changes the load, not the pressure.

What should you ask about the battery?

The model pages do not print battery capacity or charging time, so ask us for both with your quote. A few things are settled:

  • Replacement batteries are supplied for every JPK-KF model, so an aged battery does not mean replacing the whole sprayer.
  • Keep the battery charged between seasons. Do not store it flat.
  • The range includes 2 in 1 models that also work on the hand lever. If charging is unreliable where you spray, ask us which model to take.

A battery sprayer is a low pressure machine. For tall orchard trees or a longer throw, an HTP power sprayer is the better fit.

Which battery sprayer should you ask us about?

Send us three things: how far the water is from the field, what crop you spray, and how many hours one person sprays in a day. From those we can point you to the right tank among the JPK-KF-16B-M/N, JPK-KF-16C-29, JPK-KF-18C-2 and JPK-KF-20C-7. All four are on our page for the best battery sprayer for agriculture, with quotes sent on request.

Healthy Crops, A Brighter Future With the right care and reliable equipment, you can overcome seasonal challenges and ensure a better harvest.
