Earth Auger & Post Hole Digger

An earth auger drilling machine turns a day of crowbar work into an hour. Planting pits for orchard saplings, fence post holes along a boundary and foundation holes for a shade structure are all jobs where the machine pays back quickly.

The earth auger machine in our range runs a 1E44F-5 engine at 49cc rated 1.65 KW or 2.2 HP on a 25:1 mixed fuel ratio. Standard drill length is 80 cm at 10 cm diameter, with optional lengths of 80, 100, 120 and 140 cm and diameters of 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 cm.

Used as a post hole digger machine, the 15 and 20 cm bits cover most fencing work. Used as an earth drilling machine for planting, the 30 cm bit takes a nursery sapling with its root ball intact.

A digger machine of this class is a two-man tool in hard ground. In soft or worked soil one operator is enough, but on stony or compacted ground the torque at the handle is considerable and a second pair of hands is safer. An earth digger machine should always be run with the operator braced and the throttle released the moment the bit binds.

As a soil digging machine the auger is limited by what is in the ground. In clean soil it drills quickly; in stony or root-bound ground the bit binds and the torque comes back through the handles, which is why a second operator is recommended on hard sites.
